Pack your blanket, chairs and cooler, and prepare to rock at this year's Summer Songwriters Night featuring the Nashville-based band Sixwire with special guest John Elefante, former lead singer of the bandKansas. Yes that means you will hear those top 40 songs that take you back in time, including "Dust in the Wind," "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Point of Know Return."
The 12th annual event is scheduled for June 10th and will be held in Peggy's Field at Antrim in Columbia, TN. The backstage party - where you can meet Elefante and Sixwire band members before the concert - begins at 6 pm, with the dinner and show at 7 pm. The event benefits CASA of Maury County. Sixwire, whose name pays homage to the six strings on a guitar, is comprised of five veteran musicians who put on high energy shows around the world. Their music ranges from pop country to classic rock. They are regularly featured on the show "Nashville." You can read more about the band HERE.
Fans and veterans of Summer Songwriters Night will recognize Sixwire's lead singer Andy Childs, a favorite musician who has participated in the event for the past several years. John Elefanate (pictured below) joined the band Kansas in 1981, beating out several famous singers for the lead spot, including Sammy Hagar, Jim Stafford and Doug Pinnick. Elefante also played keyboards for the band and wrote several of their songs, later going on to become a major record producer and owner of the Nashville 80,000 sf recording studio Sound Kitchen.
