"Have a Blues Christmas" is the brainchild of Scott Holt and Keith Throneberry, which came to them one night at dinner several years ago. It began as a big idea... and just keeps getting bigger and better. This year is expected to be the best ever and Off the Duck is proud to be a sponsor!
Scott Holt, Callie Hopper, Buck Sixx and their bands are taking time out of their busy schedules to donate their unbelievable talent as the entertainment for the evening this year. To have these bands perform in their hometown in the same evening is a special treat for Maury County residents.
The event is December 10, upstairs at Puckett's. Tickets are now on sale at Puckett's, Hewgley's Music and The By-Pass Deli, but act fast because the event sells out early.
Volunteers start working on this project early in the fall by gathering donations, auction items and decorations. With the help of many friends and local business owners, a variety of items have been procured for the auction, such as autographed sports and music memorabilia, including guitars, paintings and photos, as well as artwork. They also work with local artists to design the highly anticipated, one-of-a-kind t-shirts that are sold each year to boost our proceeds.
Throneberry says, "To pull this off each year, we rely on the generous donations of the community to help reach our yearly goal. We know a lot of you have already bought your tickets and we are looking forward to seeing you all and having a great time."
Over the past 11 years, Have a Blues Christmas has raised over $113,000 for the children of our community. You can also donate directly to the benefit by contacting Keith Throneberry @ 931-446-3945.
The primary beneficiary of the proceeds of this year's event is aMuse'um. aMuse'um is Maury County's sole children's museum and is located at 123 W. 7th St. in historic downtown Columbia. The nonprofit facility features educational, interactive exhibits designed specifically for children to open a world of exploration that encourages children to become learners, thinkers and creators.
Current sponsors of the event include Throneberry Entertainment, Off the Duck and the participating bands. However, additional sponsors will be forthcoming.
