Wedding Wednesday by Westbury House on the Square- Katie & Scott Beasley
June 15, 2016
Looking at their shared list of mutual friends, Katie & Scott Beasley should have met long before they did. It took the idea of Katie’s aunt and father to put these two together and from then on it was meant to be. The first date was a success and Katie and Scott quickly knew this was the real deal. . Once word got out that they had begun dating, they learned that their grandparents had been good family friends and Scott's family was friends with several people on Katie's mom's side of the family too. Sometimes they can't figure out how they know so many of the same people growing up and never knew each other.
By the time Scott was ready to pop the question, cold feet set in, but not the kind you think. Scott had originally planned to propose on a trip to New Orleans, but the night before they left town, Scott became worried about getting the ring through security. In his excitement, Scott decided now was the time. As Katie was upstairs styling her hair Scott came in and proposed! The proposal is still something they laugh about to this day, but they are glad they were able to enjoy New Orleans for the whole weekend as a newly engaged couple!
Katie and Scott set the ceremony at Saint Catherine Catholic Church, but when it came time to pick the venue they needed plenty of space and their list was a long one to choose from. After visiting The Westbury House and meeting Julie all plans changed. As soon as they left, Scott said, "I don't care how much we have to cut our guest list, that's the place." They loved the look of the venue, everything from the hardwood floors, tin ceiling, old elevator and especially the loft. Julie was icing on the cake. She was so easy to work with and very straight forward. She helped them quickly put all details together and had great suggestions for making the most of the capacity and the space. They knew that everything would be taken care of and they would have nothing to worry about the night of their wedding.
From top to bottom Katie and Scott created a reception that was classic vintage using navy, cream and touches of green. Flowers were simple white flowers and greenery in the bride's bouquet, and baby's breath for the others. Lace runners and vintage doilies with mercury glass candles topped navy linen tables. The Westbury House was the perfect place to carry out this theme and just added to the vintage feel.
Once the newlyweds made their entrance they walked right into their first dance to "Mean to Me" by Brett Eldredge. They also had an anniversary dance to highlight all the special couples in their lives to "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. Katie's grandparents, Jimmy and Carol Rohling were the last couple standing being just one week from celebrating 58 years of marriage.
As the evening went one guests dined on a cocktail party style menu prepared by Westbury House including Spinach Artichoke Dip, Fresh Fruit, Beef Tenderloin Crostinis, Ham and Swiss Poppy seed Sliders, Tortellini Caprese Shooters, and Chicken Fingers. Guests are still raving about how good the food was that night.
Katie and Scott wanted a unique exit, so they chose to included their love of sports, specifically baseball. They had small felt pennants made with Beasley written in orange. Wedding guests waved them as Katie and Scott made their exit.
When Katie and Scott think back to their reception, the first thing that comes to mind is how supported they felt as they embarked on their marriage. They enjoyed having so many friends in family in one place celebrating with them. Katie remembers how much family and friends helped with set-up, from ironing tablecloths to arranging centerpieces, making boutonnieres and making the chalkboard signs, turning the Westbury House into exactly what she had envisioned. They can't even begin to thank their family and friends for all they did for them while preparing for their marriage.
