Yesterday, March 21st, marked the opening of Muletown Rec facility, Maury County's newest iteration of what was formerly The Wellness & Aquatic Complex and prior to that the Maury County YMCA. The first question that likely comes to mind for locals will be: So what makes Muletown Rec different than the past organizations? Good question.
Muletown Rec's Executive Director Ryan Vick has been involved in fitness for more than 20 years and says there are plenty of things for people in Maury County to get excited about. She is pictured above with the plans for a 3,000 square foot splash pad, which will be built in the outdoor pool area.
For starters, the facility has undergone an entire facelift and renovation, giving it a hip vibe and contemporary atmosphere. The entrance was relocated and several of the workout rooms were moved, with new equipment purchased, such as treadmills and elliptical machines. Several rooms were completely overhauled, including one dedicated to spin classes and another that will be used for barre, Zumba, pilates and yoga classes. The fitness center will be open 24/7 for those busy athletes who operate on different time schedules.
Serious swimmers and children, alike, will jump for joy into one of the two pools. The aquatic portion of the Rec, managed by the Aquatics Director Elizabeth Colley, boasts a heated indoor pool that is Olympic size, as well as a splash pool for children. The outside pool has a twisty tube slide and will be getting a rock-climbing wall, as well as a 3,000 square foot splash pad that will be built this summer. Swim lessons and birthday parties are on the slate, as well.
Other amenties include a gymnasium, Kid Fitness Zone, childcare, wellness classes and, coming soon, a snack and juice bar in the lobby.
David and Nikki Baxter, owners of Medical Necessities & Services purchased the building last July, converting half of the facility into offices for Medical Necessities and renovating the other half to become what is now Muletown Rec.

Located just off Hampshire Pike behind the new Muletown Coffee location (see article HERE), Muletown Rec is offering individual memberships for $40/month and family memberships for $80/month. Nonmembers can use the facilities for $8 per visit.

For those who are ready to workout, it looks like Muletown Rec is going to work out well for Maury County residents.
