Agathos Classical School once again invites the community to Cocoa Bella, its delicious annual chocolate-themed fundraiser. The 2016 event will feature first century classical décor, a Lawn and Garden Auction, and of course, an abundance of chocolate to enjoy!
This year’s proceeds will support construction of a new classroom building scheduled to open in the fall. The event will be held Saturday, March 12th from 6-8:30 PM at the Memorial Building in Columbia.
Theme, Attire and Strings Trio
If you would like to wear a tunic and toga, cloak, or Roman sandals for an evening, this is the perfect opportunity! Ancient Roman attire is optional, but would certainly complement the setting of classical columns, garden greenery, and lovely strings music provided by the Harpeth Trio.
This popular group – featuring a violin, viola, & cello –has performed in a variety of venues including The Opryland Hotel, Cheekwood Gardens, The Governor's Club, The Belle Meade Plantation, Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Carter House in Franklin. They have even traveled to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC to perform. The Harpeth Trio was honored to win The Knot 2015 Best Ceremony Music award.
A variety of practical and beautiful items will be auctioned via silent written bids during the evening. There are items sure to be of interest to a wide variety of guests! Offerings include a Henry lever action 22 caliber "Goldenboy" ($700+ value!), a STIHL chainsaw, and protective gear. There will also be urns, garden-inspired artwork, birdhouses, outdoor furniture, gift certificates to Genesis Diamonds and local restaurants, lawn service, a bounce house inflatable rental (perfect for your backyard party!), and wine autographed by Kix Brooks of nearby Arrington Vineyards.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample a variety of fine chocolates paired with artesian waters. Several favorites from years past will be served again. New York Strip steaks with a cocoa-coffee rub and chocolate covered candied bacon will return, along with a variety of chocolate-infused desserts and the ever popular chocolate fountain. And no Cocoa Bella would be complete without a delectable array of truffles and bonbons! Attendees can also anticipate gracious service from Agathos students.
Cocoa Bella is made possible by generous support from the business community. Dr. and Mrs. Jonathan Pettit and Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Quinn are the Truffle Level sponsors. Ganache Level sponsors include Beck Dental Care, Columbia Orthodontics, Heritage Bank & Trust, First Farmers, McEwen Group, Northside Medical Professionals, and Whatley & Associates. Coffee will be provided by Buckhead Coffeehouse.
