COLUMBIA MAIN STREET CHRISTMAS PARADE:
‘Tis the Season to Fill the Sleigh’
December 3, 2015
A “Sleigh Ride” promising more than visions of sugarplums will fill the streets of downtown Columbia as the Main Street Christmas Parade runs its annual course on Monday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
This year’s parade featuring beautiful floats covered in lights, marching bands, classic cars, dance troupes, scout troops, church and community groups, organizations, businesses, and Santa, will offer participants and attendees the unique opportunity to contribute to The Family Center’s food pantry.
Columbia Main Street, Inc., organizer of the parade, has chosen to partner with The Family Center, an organization working to “bridge those in crisis”. Specifically, canned food items collected the night of the parade will allow The Family Center to stock their pantry that continues to be the anchor in the storm for families suffering from food insecurity. “We see families by mid-month who are out of food stamps and out of food”, said Dawn Taylor executive director at the center. “We are always searching for non-perishable goods for our pantry so the opportunity to be benefited by those celebrating the parade is especially promising. We are honored that Main Street selected us.”
