As twilight fell over the hills of Natchez Valley Vineyards, over 550 guests took their seats for the 17th annual Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club’s Sunset Symphony. Tables dotting the rolling lawn of the vineyard included lively decorations designed by guests themselves. Fall centerpieces were the main theme with a few eye catching creations including Kentucky Derby and mint julip theme and an elaborate Under the Sea theme.
The evening began with guests sampling wines in Natchez Hills Vineyard’s two tasting rooms while perusing silent and live auction items to place their highest bids on sports tickets, American Flags flown over the TN State Capitol, original works of art, a Jack Daniels barrel, and even a 1970 green Chevrolet Impala to name a few. Local artisans brought homemade soaps, lotions and jewelry for guests to shop as well as handmade chocolate confections for a sweet surprise.
Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant crafted the evening’s menu of grilled ribeye steak, marinated chicken breasts, salad and baked potato for guests to enjoy while listening to the beat of Gil Gann and The Manz blues ensemble. The band kicked off their set with moving rendition of the National Anthem, America the Beautiful and a mix of Dixie’s Land and The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
The Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club’s Sunset Symphony was a spectacular success attributed to the many sponsors, patrons, and the efforts of energetic club members devoted to the mission of the Rotary. The Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club is a local civic club devoted to making the world a better place. The Rotary Club members, Rotarians, organize fundraising events for local charities to support parks and community schools. Rotarian, Ed Honicker, says”All of our club's fundraising events have enabled us to provide the Splash Pad at Riverwalk Park, partner with the City of Columbia in constructing a children's playground at Ridley Park, construct the Rotary Pavilion at Riverwalk Park, provide four $1,000.00 scholarships annually to Maury County graduating seniors, provide annually dictionaries to all Maury County third graders, and contribute to many other Maury County civic organizations”
