It was a beautiful morning to get out in the fresh air on Saturday. Over 140 race participants of all ages showed up and got moving for the 3rd Annual Feed the Need 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run benefiting the Maury Regional Foundation Friends and Family Nutrition Fund. Runners and walkers were asked to bring non perishable items and with their generosity over 340 pounds of food was donated.
The race started in Maury County Park with Chaz Molder, local attorney with Mounger and Molder, as
the emcee for the day. Runners and walkers were cheered to the finish line by Molder, volunteers, and supporters along the way. Off the Duck was inspired not only by the excitement among the veteran runners, but by the number of participants we spoke to that were completing in their first ever race. Each person had a different story- a former smoker taking control of their health, one person working towards a fitness goal, and another in the prime of their life determined to keep moving. Everyone has a reason for wanting to race, whether it be the competition or the challenge of personal endurance but one thing everyone had in common was the flush of achievement at the finish line. Congrats to this year's participants and winners!
