Columbia is privileged to host Nashville artist Alan LeQuire's "Dream Forest" exhibit currently at the Maury County Library. The inspiration for the sculptures came from LeQuire's rural upbringing as he says "They just kind of let us go. I wandered off in the woods for miles and miles." Later in life LeQuire began having dreams about the trees and images he saw as a child and he recalled "They were now loving and supportive shapes." Guests of the opening reception hosted by the Columbia Arts Council were treated to a poetry reading by local artist Beverly Mitchell from the book Dream Forest:Alan LeQuire , a collection of beautifully transcribed dream sequences by Madison Bell. Excerpts of poetry are carved around the sculptures and have also been printed for display on the library windows. The exhibit will be on display across the street from the library with a few pieces installed inside through December of this year.
