Casey Bryant opened Oak & Lace a little over a week ago, and I was thrilled to be able to sit down with her for a little Q&A about Columbia’s newest boutique. The store is a beautiful blend of clothing and jewelry curated by Casey along with vendor booth space for home décor, furniture, and handmade children’s pieces. “When I was creating the store in my mind I was thinking how to meld the marketplace part with the clothing and Oak & Lace came to mind, “ explained Casey about her store’s name. I am thrilled to introduce Oak & Lace to our readers!
What lines can we expect you to carry?
I currently have a lot of Umgee clothing in stock but carry pieces from other brands as well. When I find something that speaks to me I order it regardless of the name on the tag.
Any unique items in the store that you would like to point out?
I love the mid century modern furniture pieces that are currently in the store but all of my vendors have beautiful things.
What is your favorite season to dress for and why?
I'd have to say spring is my favorite season to dress for. I love breaking out my sandals and tank tops even if I have to wear them with a jacket or sweater. The beauty of spring is inspiring, everything is coming back to life, you can't help but feel happy and optimistic.
Is it hard not to take home every item for yourself!?!
Absolutely! There isn't a single item of clothing or jewelry that I wouldn't wear and there is at least one item from each of my vendors I'm having a hard time not snagging up!
You have vendor booths in your store- can you describe their style or offerings?
Most of my vendors booths are filled with handmade items of varying degrees with the exception of some antiques. I don't have one particular style I look for in artisans work. I love having a wide range of items for customers to choose from and I love that most of the store is filled with items made locally. The idea behind the store was to get more people to shop where they live and I have a very eclectic taste and Oak & Lace conveys that!
