If you have ever doubted the notion that “every child is an artist,” you need to visit the annual Elementary Art Show at Columbia State Community College where 300 works of colorful art are on display. The show features students’ work from participating Maury County elementary schools, including: Riverside Elementary, Zion Christian Academy, Joseph Brown Elementary, Santa Fe Unity School, Highland Park Elementary, Mt Pleasant Elementary and J.E. Woodard Elementary.
Proud parents, teachers and the young artists whose work is on display gathered Friday, March 13 for a reception at the Pryor Art Gallery in the Waymon L. Hickman building. You will have to hurry though, as there is only one day left to check out these young Picasso’s work, but it is followed by the annual art show of the middle and high schools from March 23 – April 20, with a reception on April 2 from 4 – 6 p.m.
The shows are organized by Pryor Art Gallery curator Rusty Summerville, who also provided some of the photos herein.
